Wrestling is an individual sport but a wrestler is more successful when there is a united team behind them. Our dedicated team of coaches train these young athletes to be the best they can be both on and off the mat.

In 1973, Jim Bennett helped found and was head coach for the Calaveras Youth Wrestling Club. Youth wrestlers still compete in the annual Jim Bennett Classic and carry on the mission that this great man started.

Our young athletes have much to learn from him both on and off the mat.

Coach Carlos is the head Coach of CYW. He has been coaching with the program for seven seasons. He teaches with a very positive energy , ensuring that these young athletes not only learn the sport but also love the sport. His coaching philosophy is "You Get What You Give"

Coach JD has been with our program for one season. He has an impressive background in wrestling beginning back in his middle school years. He wrestled for Sacramento City College (2006-2007) and was number one ranked both years. He went on to wrestle at Chadron State, Nebraska from 2007-2009. Having such a knowledgeable and experienced coach is amazing for our young wrestlers.

She has Wrestled since her middle school years in school and has around 7 years experience between freestyle and Folkstyle Wrestling. Her whole life has been devoted to helping children.
